1. Who we are and how these terms apply

CVForge provides an online service for creating, improving, tailoring, and exporting CVs, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, and related job application materials.
These Terms apply whenever you access or use the service, including browsing the website, creating an account, uploading or creating content, using AI-assisted features, purchasing a CV unlock or add-on, or subscribing to Pro.
By using the service, you agree to these Terms and the following documents: Privacy Policy, Cookies Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, and Refund Policy.
You must be at least 18 years old, or have permission from a parent or guardian, to use the service. If you use paid features, you must be legally able to enter into a contract or have permission from the person responsible for the payment method.
If you use the service on behalf of another person or organisation, you confirm that you have authority to do so and to accept these Terms on their behalf.
2. No professional advice and no guarantees
The service is designed to assist with writing, improving, and tailoring application materials. It does not provide professional career, recruitment, legal, or employment advice.
We do not guarantee job interviews, job offers, employment outcomes, ATS performance or rankings, recruiter decisions, or LinkedIn visibility or results.
We are not responsible for any decisions made by employers, recruiters, job boards, ATS providers, LinkedIn, or other third parties based on your use of the service or any content you create, export, or submit.
Any scores, analysis, suggestions, or generated content are provided for guidance only. You are solely responsible for deciding what to use and for ensuring that all content is accurate, lawful, and appropriate.
3. Accounts and security
You may need an account to access certain features. You must provide accurate information and keep your login details secure.
You must not share your account to bypass limits or billing controls or allow unauthorised access.
You are responsible for all activity under your account unless you can demonstrate it occurred without your fault.
We may offer third-party sign-in such as Google. These are subject to the third party's own terms and privacy policies.
You can request account deletion through your account settings where available. Account deletion and data retention are described in our Privacy Policy, including where certain billing, tax, fraud-prevention, security, or legal records may need to be retained.
4. What the service does
The service may allow you to create or import a CV, run deterministic CV health checks, run AI-assisted parsing and analysis, improve wording and structure, tailor a CV to a job, review suggested changes, save versions, export documents in PDF, generate cover letters, paste LinkedIn profile text for import, and create AI-assisted LinkedIn profile content.
Some features are free. Others require payment, including CV unlocks, subscriptions, or add-ons. Features, limits, and availability may change over time.
General CV health checks are local, deterministic checks. They do not use AI systems and do not consume AI credits.
Outputs may vary depending on your input, job descriptions, formatting, external systems, and technical constraints. You must always review outputs before use.
5. Your content and responsibilities
You retain ownership of the content you provide. We do not own your CVs, cover letters, LinkedIn content, job descriptions, or other application materials.
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to use, process, store, and transmit your content only as needed to operate, maintain, improve, and secure the service. We will not publicly publish your personal CV content in marketing or public-facing materials without your permission.
You must only upload content you have the right to use, avoid uploading confidential or third-party data without permission, and ensure all application content is truthful and accurate.
You are responsible for ensuring that documents, claims, qualifications, experience, certifications, achievements, dates, and statements submitted to employers, recruiters, job boards, online platforms including LinkedIn, or other third parties are truthful, lawful, and authorised.
You must not use the service to create or submit misleading or false job application material.
6. AI output and human review
Some features are AI-assisted, including CV parsing or extraction, Improve, Tailor, ATS-style analysis, cover letters, and AI-assisted LinkedIn profile generation. Other features, such as general CV health checks, are deterministic and do not use AI.
AI features are intended to improve clarity, structure, and alignment with job requirements. However, AI may produce inaccurate, incomplete, generic, biased, or unsuitable wording, or make assumptions that do not fit your situation.
Because AI systems may generate similar results for different users, we do not guarantee that generated content will be unique.
You must check names, dates, employers, qualifications, skills, claims, scores, cover letters, LinkedIn profile content, and any other AI-generated output before relying on it.
You must review, edit, and approve all generated content before using it. You remain fully responsible for any use of that content.
7. Scores, analysis, and recommendations
Any scoring, matching, or analysis is an estimate based on the information provided.
Scores may be affected by incomplete job descriptions, limited CV detail, and missing evidence.
Scores and recommendations are guidance only and should not be relied on as definitive assessments.
8. Payments, plans, and usage
Pricing is shown in the product at checkout.
Paid options may include CV unlocks for a specific CV, Pro subscriptions, AI credit top-ups, cover letter add-ons, LinkedIn profile optimizer add-ons, and premium design add-ons.
A CV unlock applies to one CV and may unlock save, export, full analysis, CV-scoped Improve and Tailor credits, and one included cover letter for that unlocked CV.
Pro subscriptions provide broader account-level access and are subject to monthly AI allowances, top-ups where purchased, and fair use limits.
Some credits apply only to a specific CV, while others apply to your account subscription period. Credits cannot normally be transferred between different product types or scopes.
For example, CV-scoped credits apply to the unlocked CV they were purchased for, and Pro-period top-up credits do not become CV unlock credits if Pro ends.
Free monthly AI usage is an account-level allowance. It may be used for limited free previews and, where the product currently allows it, as a fallback after Pro or unlocked-CV AI allowances are exhausted. It does not unlock save, export, full analysis, or other paid rights.
Cover letter add-on credits are separate from normal CV Improve and Tailor credits. CV parsing and extraction are tracked separately from monthly Improve and Tailor usage.
Pasting LinkedIn profile text for import may be available without Pro, but AI-assisted LinkedIn profile optimisation remains a separate paid add-on unless included by a later product change.
Add-ons provide additional usage or access and are optional.
We may change pricing, features, and entitlements over time.
9. Usage limits and fair use
We may apply limits to AI usage, generation requests, CV parsing or extraction, saved unpaid CVs, rate of requests, and system load.
Free CV parsing or extraction may be subject to a daily limit and may also be blocked before parsing if you have reached the free saved locked-CV limit. This is to protect the service from unnecessary AI cost before another unpaid CV can be saved.
Unlocked CVs do not count as unpaid locked CVs for the free saved CV limit. Pro users may have broader limits depending on the active plan and current product configuration.
We may restrict, delay, or refuse usage that is excessive, automated, abusive, or harmful to the service.
This includes scripted access, bot activity, automated scraping, bulk generation, credential sharing, attempts to bypass limits, attempts to extract prompts, templates, scoring systems, or underlying models, or use that places unreasonable load on the service.
10. Subscriptions and cancellation
Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the next billing period.
If cancelled, access continues until the end of the paid period and no automatic refund is issued.
Failed payments may result in restricted or suspended access.
11. Refunds
Refunds are handled under the Refund Policy.
Cancellation stops future billing but does not automatically refund current periods.
One-off purchases are assessed based on whether access was delivered, whether the entitlement was used, and whether technical issues prevented use.
We may refuse refunds where there is evidence of abuse, repeated refund requests after substantial usage, fraud, chargeback misuse, or attempts to circumvent paid access restrictions.
Nothing in these Terms overrides your statutory consumer rights.
12. Exports and use of documents
You are solely responsible for any use of exported CVs or documents.
You must review all outputs before submitting them to employers, recruiters, job boards, or other third parties.
Export formatting may vary depending on template choice, device, software compatibility, fonts, PDF viewers, and third-party document software.
We are not responsible for how documents are interpreted or used by third parties.
13. Third-party services
The service may rely on third parties for payments such as Stripe, AI processing such as OpenAI, authentication such as Google or Facebook, email delivery, hosting, analytics, support, and infrastructure.
These services operate under their own terms and policies.
We are not responsible for third-party services beyond what applicable law requires.
14. Intellectual property
All intellectual property in the service, including software, templates, design, scoring systems, and prompts, belongs to CVForge or its licensors.
You may use the service for lawful personal or internal professional job-application purposes, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
You must not copy, reproduce, resell, reverse engineer, or exploit the service.
15. Availability and changes
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or complete accuracy.
Some features may be marked as beta, preview, experimental, or early access. These features may change, be incomplete, or be removed without notice.
We may update, modify, or remove features, limits, or pricing at any time.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Where legally required, we will provide notice of material changes. Continued use of the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, including internet outages, hosting, infrastructure, or service provider failures, cyber attacks, strikes, regulatory action, or other force majeure events.
16. Suspension and termination
We may temporarily suspend, restrict, or terminate your access if we reasonably believe there is misuse or abuse, fraud or payment issues, security or legal risk, or breach of these Terms.
We may also limit or disable specific features where necessary.
17. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless CVForge and its service providers from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and expenses arising from your use of the service, your content, your use of generated outputs, or your breach of these Terms.
18. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss of profit or opportunity, employment or hiring outcomes, rejected applications, third-party decisions or behaviour, or reliance on generated content.
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for paid services is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months before the claim.
19. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Where applicable, consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction may also apply.
Disputes will be subject to the courts of England and Wales unless local law requires otherwise.
